March 25, 2007, this history was provided by Judy Faris great-great granddaughter of William Bullock who purchased the home around 1900.

It took a little time to piece our history together, but I think I have it right.

According to family history, the original house was built in the 1860’s.  It was purchased by my great-great grandfather, William Bullock, and he gave it to my great-grandmother Sarah, (who promptly sat on the front step and cried when she saw it) and her husband, William Clark, around the turn of the century.

About 1911, they renovated the house.  As near as we can figure, they moved it back from the street, raised it on a foundation, and moved it closer to the houses next door (which were also owned by William Bullock), the plan being to build another house on the large lot next to it, which they never did.  They added on the kitchens and the parlor and upstairs bedroom.  Two of the upper rooms and the upper kitchen were rented out.

The next picture is of the stained glass window which was in the parlor.  You can see it in the 1911 picture on the other side of the large tree.  It is now in my living room.  My sister has the stained glass window from the upper floor.

We saw that the large mirror in the next picture is now gone.  It was in the front room over the marble fireplace.

This was a good house for our family.  My mother and aunt have many fond memories of it. Unfortunately, it became too much to maintain.  It is good to see that it has a new life.  We wish you well.  You’re the future of our old house.  I’m glad you care.
