Policies

 

 By Making your  reservation you are agreeing to the policies below:

 

Welcome to our home.  To ensure that everyone has a wonderful time we have a few rules for the enjoyment of your home away from home.  If you have any complaints please let us know immediately so they can be resolved.  You can reach me any time at 740-632-2899

 

¨      Rates & Reservations  Pricing based on double occupancy,  So if one person wants their own room please count them as two persons, your reservation will be adjusted to an even number of guests should you happen to enter an odd number, so that you have enough bedrooms for everyone, Each bedroom sleeps up to two.  Please enter 4 for three to four guests, enter 6 for five to six guests, enter 8 for seven or eight guests, and enter 10 for nine or ten guests.  Reservations made more than 6 months in advance are subject to rate changes.

¨      Check In is 4 pm to 6 pm .  We try to schedule check in before 6 to allow us to have dinner or attend events with friends and family in the evening.   A later check in can be arranged if necessary.  Because we do not have a traditional 24 hour front desk we ask that you schedule an appointment for your check in.  If your plans change and you will be earlier or later than your scheduled appointment please call us and let us know your anticipated time of arrival so we can meet you.  If you are going to be very late we may arrange a way for you to let yourself into the house and get settled.

¨      Check Out is by 11 am .   No late check out please, we need to prepare for the next guests arriving.  Please call me when you are ready to go so we can say goodbye, if you are leaving before 8 am you can leave the keys in the mail box.

¨      Children are welcome at both the Westfall and Garrett Guest Houses.   Please keep in mind that these homes are living museums and contain some antiques and collections that cannot be replaced.  Children under 16 cannot be left alone in the houses at any time.  Children under 18 are not permitted in the Jacuzzi in the Garrett house.

¨      Minimum Rental Age is 25, photo ID required at check in.

¨      Cancellation Policy :  We are a small Inn .  A cancellation has a significant negative impact on our business.   And while we don't like a negative policy experience has led us to require this policy.   We charge a cancellation fee of $100 which is also the deposit amount.  If you cancel within 1 week prior to scheduled arrival date you must pay for the entire reservation as if you had stayed, we will then issue you a gift certificate good for 6 months for the amount of your reservation.  Certain dates, graduations, homecoming and special events are non-refundable and non-cancelable.  You will be notified if you book one of these dates.  (These dates include Franciscan University Graduation and Homecoming, The Dean Martin Festival weekend, Move in Weekend, Thanksgiving Weekend, Christmas and New Years Weeks).

¨      Security Hold or Security Deposit:  A damage security hold may also be placed on your credit card which will be released on check out inspection. Any damages or missing items will be charged to your card on file.  Or, a cash security deposit may be required.  Deposits are usually $500 for the first day and $100 for each additional day of rental.

¨      Registered guests only please.   If you are planning on having more than 4 non-registered guests over, please call for per guest event pricing before you make your reservation. The house cannot be used for a large college student or high school student party, however quiet semi-formal and formal events are allowed, please see our event pricing for more details.  The owners are always present during large events.

¨      Quiet Hours, evening quiet hours begin at 11 pm and last until 8 am .  The neighbors appreciate quiet behavior during these times.  We also live just two blocks away so we are always close by.

¨      The guest house and porches are non-smoking.  Cigarette smoking is permitted in the rear garden at the Westfall House or on the rear porch of the Garrett House only, a receptacle is provided for proper disposal of cigarette butts.  Smoking is not permitted on the wood porches and smoking of cigars, pipes, etc., is not permitted on the property.  Use of candles is also not allowed in the Inn or either Guest House.

¨      Pets we welcome one small dog under 20 lbs. at a time in the Westfall House only, but please talk with us first for prior approval.  No other types of pets allowed.  Pet cannot be allowed to run free in the house or be left in the yard when you are not there and must be kenneled.  Also, please don't allow your pet on the beds or other furniture at any time, and clean up any inside or outside messes.  

Kitchen Use:

While our guest houses are self-catering and have a full kitchen you can use, we do offer several breakfast options, including a custom breakfast pre-stocking option:

Coffee and Danish:  two Fresh baked donuts and Danish from a local bakery, and hot coffee to start your day, and coffee any time.   $3 Per person per day

Continental Breakfast:  includes fresh two donuts and Danish, one whole fruit, orange juice and coffee.   This option also provides coffee any time.  $4 Per person per day.

Basket of Breakfast:  Breakfast items ready for you to prepare for you and your family and friends. 2 eggs, bread for toasting, bacon, real butter, one whole fruit, orange juice, cream and coffee. Just add one and then let us know which days and number of guest you would like this for and we will add it to your stay. Includes full use of the kitchen to prepare this breakfast meal and coffee any time.  $6 Per person per day

Custom Breakfast and Pre-Stocking: We will stock the kitchen for you with a list of goods you provide by email. Just let us know what you want and any specific brands required. The total will be added to your room charge.  $20 Per trip to the store.  

When you use the kitchen, please leave the kitchen clean.   When you use the kitchen we ask that you place all your used dishes in the dishwasher, detergent is located under the sink, and please wipe up the counters, tables, stove, refrigerator, microwave, and other cooking or eating areas, as well as the floor, of any spills or cooking debris.  We ask that you do not deep fry or pan fry in oil the kitchens are not equipped with exterior vent fans.  Extra trash bags are in the kitchen as well bagged trash can be left on the back porch.  A $100 cleaning charge will apply at check out if the kitchen is not clean when you leave.

¨      Innkeepers and staff may be at times in the living areas of the first floor and storage areas of the second floor (usually in the morning setting up breakfast and in the afternoon when cleaning), guest bedrooms and bathrooms are not entered except for cleaning at a time arranged with you or when you are out of the house.  Generally we stop by at least once a day to walk through, linens are changed during long stays every 4th day.

¨      Rates & Reservations  $100 non-refundable deposit required for all reservations.  Pricing based on double occupancy (so if one person wants their own room please count them as two persons, your reservation will be adjusted to an even number of guests should you happen to enter an odd number, so that you have enough bedrooms for everyone).  The guest house is a whole-house short term rental and is available by the day or month. Please call or see our web site for current rates.  You can reserve Westfall House for up to a maximum of 8 total guests, and Garrett House for up to 10 total guests, if you have more than that please call me to see if we can do anything.  You can select which bedrooms when you arrive if you have less than maximum couples.  We offer a few breakfast options that can be added to the reservation price. Each house has a formal entry hall, two living rooms, dining room, kitchen and full bath on the first floor, as well as bedrooms and a full bath on the second floor. Garrett House also has a master suite with Jacuzzi and attached bath (No children under 18 permitted in the Jacuzzi please). The large wrap around front porch and yard with garden is available for your use as well. The kitchen comes fully equipped with Refrigerator, Stove, Microwave, Dishwasher and dishes for your use.  Please contact us for monthly rates, as well as rates for meetings, events or larger gatherings (more than 4 invited non-registered guests).  Some weekends and holidays require a 2, 3 or 4 night stay.    Some group reservations may require a larger deposit or payment in full and may be non-refundable (we issue a gift certificate if you have to cancel).  We will let you know at the time of making your reservation of any special requirements.  Also a 7% combined Ohio and Jefferson County Sales Tax and 6% Steubenville Hotel Tax will apply to your reservation.
